Summer

This is a whole bunch of random summer pictures.

While playing in the tall wild grass in our yard Ellie startled a partridge and her little flock of babies. The chicks could barely walk and so Ellie set about to find them all. This was the first one she found. After finding 13 chicks we made a little nest for them near where Ellie found them and waited from a distance for their Mom to come back. Eventually she came and sat on our nest then away she went with all her chicks.

The chicks were so small.

Owen's Grandma Petersen made him a neat cross stitch to hang on his wall. He really wanted to work on it too so she left a section of the elephants ear for him to cross stitch. He has carefully worked on it doing a few stitches a day.

So pleased to finally be cross stitching.

The kids wanted to do a lemonade stand down at the end of our lane so we made a sign and lemonade and they spent about 4 hours selling lemonade. Their friends joined them for most of the selling.

The stand! They earned about $35 after their lemonade cost. Owen bought a lego with his money and Ellie bought a baking set for her dolls.

Owen is never very far from grace. She loves to play with him and he always makes sure she has plenty of toys.

The kids even found and caught a turtle.

Boxes are fun, but ice cream push ups are even better......

Owen was playing a game on the ipad and he asked if Grace could sit with him. I don't think he realized how much she would be into touching the screen too. It was pretty funny to watch him try to control her fast little hands.

One night I heard Owen call from his bedroom. He told me to look out his window at the beautiful sunset. He asked if he could go out in the front yard to take some pictures. So out we went to take pictures of the sunset.

The kids always try to include Grace in their play. She was enjoying chewing on their blocks.

Owen also would build her little castles and then he showed her how to whack them down with a block. She thought that was pretty fun.

Obviously chewing on the blocks was fun too.

Once a push up came Grace was all about that. Owen was kind enough to share with her. It was so funny to watch Owen because he was licking the air right along with her.

This is good! Little Grace even whined when it was taken away.

She sure enjoys her special crackers.

When the kids are playing with their legos they usually make sure Grace has her pile of duplo legos to play with as well.

Owen is beginning to learn to read. He was so proud that he read his first book and wanted me to take a picture of it.

The kids have a large pack of wax sticks. They are fun to create with. Ellie makes all kinds of things including crowns and flower headbands :)
