Volga River

kIn the central district of Yarolslavl along where the Volga river flows there is some very pretty walking areas. They include iron fences, gazebos, even parks with fountains. I imagine it is very pretty in the spring when the trees all begin to bloom. At this time of year it was cool with a cold wind blowing off the river.
"Volga River"

"Guess Who??"

In this picture you can see the big river on the left(The Volga) being joined by a small river(The Kamarocl) which can be seen in the upper right of the picture. The large Volga river flows through the city of Yaroslavl. Until a few weeks ago it had only one car bridge over it and one train bridge. A new bridge just opened on the very north side of town. President Putin was the speaker at the bridge opening ceremony. We wanted to go to the ceremony, but no one seemed to know the time when it was. I guess not many people were at the ceremony....(so our language teacher informed us of).
The peninsula of land that can be seen in the center of the picture was where Yaroslavl the Wise killed a bear and the wooden city of Yaroslavl was first established in 1015. The city(town) burned and was rebuilt a little further away. This spot has been turned into a commemrative park.
