Today.......

Early this afternoon we went on a little walk over to the nearby grocery store to get some baby food for Ellie. Instead of taking the long route along the road we, along with most Russians take a short cut(or as our language teacher says "we will cut the way"). The short cut goes through the areas around all the apartment buildings then through a little outdoor renek(spelling ??). The outdoor renek has little stands that sell various clothes, shoes, CD's, purses, food, fruits and vegetables. I am beginning to wonder how much longer they will be selling the fruit and vegetables because it was below freezing today. Also along one side of this area there are lots of Babushkas and Dadushkas selling potatoes, apples, carrots, cabbage, beets, pickles, and other canned stuff. Some even have knitted mittens or wild flowers for sale. We have bought potatoes from one lady before, but it is really hard to communicate with them on what the items cost. We really need to learn our numbers beyond 10.

You will see in the last picture how the weather has changed. The first snow of the year in Yaroslavl came tonight. Thankfully we were able to get on a bus right after the hockey game and did not have to stand in the cold for long. I believe that winter is here. My Dad keeps asking if it has snowed yet....so he should be pleased now.......the snow is here (or at least a little bit is).
