Thailand

Here is another post with Thailand pictures.......

While we were visiting, my parents friends(and ours too :) came to visit from Myanmar. It was so much fun to meet them and have a few adventures as well. We went to several beautiful restaurants, one of which was on the roof of a downtown hotel. It was so pretty to eat up there as the sun set. We also were able to go on the Chiang Mai Night Safari. You get to ride on a tram through a zoo area where most of the animals are loose around you. Quite the experience! Oh and the caramel popcorn at the Night Safari was so good...the best ever!

More Night Safari Pictures. There were various displays with concrete climbing animals. Ellie and Owen liked riding all the different ones. Owen developed quite the love for watermelon and when we ate out he loved to get a watermelon smoothie of his own.

We had such fun playing at home. There is always lots to do at Grandma and Grandpas. Cookies are a bonus!

These pictures show some of the silk factory we visited. It was so interesting to see the process of making silk all the way from the silk worm to the finished product. Ellie was even able to pick out a small piece of silk.
The little ride on cars are in the shopping center near my parents house where we went grocery shopping. The ride goes on and on and on. The kids were able to go several times and loved riding the race cars.

We took several trips up to the very north of Thailand. One time we were able to visit a small church run orphanage. Ellie made fast friends wherever we went. Owen was a bit more hesitant, but warmed up considerable when they gave him legos to play with. When visiting somewhere the custom is to remove your shoes outside. Ellie would kick hers off and in she would go. Owen would meticulously set his shoes neat and in a row...... :)

In Northern Thailand we visited several churches as well. This church was just able to build a new building. You can see the contrast from their old church to their new church.  Ellie also made friends here in this small village.

We drove out of town one evening to a nearby hot springs. The water was really hot, but they had these nice little channels of it so that you could sit and dip your feet it. Ellie was really surprised and a little unsure at her first experience with a "squatty potty". In the leaf picture....can you spot the insect?"
